Enable Research is committed to ensuring that all visitors can access, read and navigate this website regardless of ability, device or assistive technology. We believe that independent research and analysis should be available to everyone, and we work to remove barriers that might prevent any reader from engaging with our content.
This statement sets out the steps we have taken and continue to take to make enable-research.ie as accessible as possible.
Standards We Follow
We aim to meet Level AA of the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, the internationally recognised standard for web accessibility. These guidelines cover a wide range of recommendations for making web content more accessible to people with visual, auditory, motor and cognitive impairments.
While we work towards full compliance with WCAG 2.1 AA, we recognise that accessibility is an ongoing process rather than a fixed destination. We continually review our content and design to identify areas for improvement.
What We Do
Enable Research has implemented the following measures to support accessibility across the site:
Content and structure: All articles use a clear heading hierarchy so that screen readers and assistive technologies can navigate content logically. We write in plain English wherever possible and avoid unnecessary jargon, though technical terms are used where precision is required and are explained in context.
Images and media: We provide descriptive alternative text for all images used on the site. Where charts, tables or infographics are used to present data, we include text-based descriptions or summaries so the information is not locked behind a visual format alone.
Navigation: The site can be navigated using a keyboard alone, without requiring a mouse or trackpad. All interactive elements including links, menus and form fields are accessible via keyboard input.
Colour and contrast: Text and background colour combinations across the site have been selected to meet WCAG contrast ratio requirements. We avoid using colour as the sole means of conveying information.
Typography: Body text is set at a readable size and the site layout responds to browser-level text resizing without loss of content or functionality.
Responsive design: The site is designed to work across screen sizes including desktop, tablet and mobile devices.
Known Limitations
Despite our best efforts, some areas of the site may not yet be fully accessible. In particular, some older content may contain formatting or structural elements that do not fully meet current accessibility standards. We address these issues as they are identified during routine content reviews.
Third-party content embedded on the site, including external widgets or embedded documents, may not meet the same accessibility standards that we apply to our own content. We select third-party tools with accessibility in mind but cannot guarantee full compliance for content outside our direct control.
Feedback and Contact
If you experience any difficulty accessing content on enable-research.ie, or if you have suggestions for how we can improve accessibility, we welcome your feedback. Please contact us at info@enable-research.ie with details of the issue you have encountered, including the page URL and the assistive technology you are using if applicable.
We take accessibility feedback seriously and will respond to all queries as quickly as possible.
